his government rouhani, the president who was just elected, they are mandated to try to get sanctions relief. there's only one way to get sanctions relief, that is to negotiate. there's a lot of gainsmanship. i don't think iranians are going to run away from the table without any sanctions. if they leave the table they don't get these minimal sanctions relief the west has offered them. >> just briefly there's the other part of kerry's big agenda, israeli-palestinian talks. he was able to win some support from netanyahu over the weekend who said he can compartmentalize, the iranian deal would not give him an excuse to stiff him on the palestinian. he's going back to deal with that again. >> i saw kerry talk on saturday. >> that was quite a speech. >> it was a very good speech, very interesting speech. i also got the impression he has something in his pocket, reached a minimal agreement with netanyahu on this, because he spoke with level of confidence one doesn't associate with middle east peace process at this moment. >> agreed. >> there's something cooking but extremely tep with us. >

sort of the parallel of the economy in the last presidential election. republicans were just constantly hammering how bad the economy was. then people sort of looked up on election day, it is not, it is a little better than terrible. so i think i'm growing to stick with the guy who is in charge already. if they look up and say, you know what? i thought i would lose my doctor and my plan and pharmaceuticals but turned out only lost my pharmaceuticals and plan got my doctor, it was a little better than projected to be. >> remember in 2012, the other variable was do i want to vote for mitt romney? you will have to have, in a situation like this where you have no candidate yet, and airwaves free to attack one person that can have little bit of an impact. you will be up against somebody. you have to leave on the side of road, 20, 40, years, whatever been, seems he was around forever, somebody has got to run against him. that's got to be a choice. and i'm not so sure you can do it just on basis of this. martha: almost 2014 now. a lot of this stuff will come ho

i think the country woke up the day after election this year. and one little town in seattle, seatac, had raised the minimum wage to $15. it's like looking out in the spring and seeing one dad deline appear in your garden and you realize, oh, my god, here it comes. the president grabbed it. it is an absolutely ripe issue and it's going to happen all over this country. the senate will be under great pressure. >> all right. your home state has the highest minimum wage in the nation right now. $9.19. of course, sea-tac taking the lead and doing a great job with that. you've also heard about airport and hotel workers being raised up to $15 an hour. is that feasible nationwide? >> absolutely. the people who take care of us in airports, people like myself who fly 100,000 miles a year, we know that our lunch will cost maybe another nickel or another dime or whatever. but if you don't pay those people enough money so that they can live at a sustainable level, they're not going to have any money to spend in the economy. the economy will not roll if there

as it comes to elections and how to win elections, one group thinks that republicans need to get more of the base out. another group that i belong to thinks that what we have to do is grow the base. we cannot just rely on traditional republican voters. what i believe is that old, straight, white, male voters ain't what they used to be. don't get me wrong, i love old, straight, white males. i am married to one. i am friends with them. i have even voted for several. they are not winning elections these days. and that is a reality. the demographic trends are not swinging in their favor. demography matters in politics. that is what jeb bush said when i was with him. mitt romney got 27% of the latino vote. the percentage of latino voters is increasing and the percentage of white voters is decreasing. i know that can be scary to some people. let me give you the good news and bad news. the bad news is that we have you surrounded. the good news is, we come in peace. it will be very hard for any candidate to get into the white house without a decent showing of latino vote. and no, 27 percent i

i knew there was a big election. everybody knew the election was coming up. the voter turnout on the primary, 18%. one in five eligible republican voters. the same thing for democratic primaries. who are the 8%? the most partisan, the most ideological, people are mad about something. if we can get the voter turnout up to 40% primaries, you could have a little bit different result. but right now, the voter turnout is very low. the second thing is $5 million, $6 million flooded in from some of the out of the state organizations which now enforced party orthodoxies. if you benefit, you have millions of dollars of negative ads running against you. my message would be the following -- it said, look, you may run the risk if you do what you think is right and you vote for something that you think is practical, you do run a risk of losing your party's primary. that's true. if you don't, with job approval at 9%. both parties and approval ratings way low, you're going to run a real risk of losing a general election. as long as you're going to be there, you may as well
